About Christian Ulbricht

Rich silver ore deposits not only gave the Ore Mountains their name, but also helped generations of miners, such as the ancestors of the Ulbricht family, to earn their living. But when the ore ran out, new ideas and sources of income were needed. This is how the former miners first became carvers and turners and finally entrepreneurs.

In 1928 the time had come. Christian Ulbricht's father founded the company "Otto Ulbricht - workshops for fine woodwork and toys" in Seiffen. With a great deal of entrepreneurial skill, he knew how to cast innovative and proven products in new forms. His reward: a gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition of 1936 for his designs of children's clocks and a group of carolers.

With the Second World War and the subsequent expropriation by the communist rulers came the end of the Seiffen company. Otto Ulbricht had to flee to the West with his family. In Lauingen on the Danube he set about founding the company, which his son Christian Ulbricht has run since 1968. After reunification, he also bought back his father's business in Seiffen.

With a lot of passion and attention to detail, the family and their employees produce traditional wooden art that brings joy to adults and children from all over the world. And in every handmade individual piece there is a touch of Christmas, just as it was then.
