Daffodils for Detroit

Daffodils have impeccable timing … they bloom just when you cannot stand one more day of winter! But spring comes no matter what, and daffodils—a sign of hope and rebirth—help restore cheer. This year that means even more to us, feeling trapped by the pandemic and dealing with restrictions in our lives.

In Detroit, Daffodil Day on April 21 celebrates these symbols of renewal. The annual Belle Isle fundraising luncheon has unfortunately been cancelled for the second time. But you can support Daffodils4Detroit by making a donation to plant bulbs this fall. After reaching our initial goal for the City of Detroit, the new goal is to plant 4 million daffodil bulbs in metro Detroit—one for each person living in the area. Help us March to our goal.

Daffodils on Belle Isle and in the City

On April 21, join us for a virtual tour of daffodils in Detroit and much more. Barry Burton, Head of Landscape Design for the City of Detroit, will lead a virtual tour around the city to share beautifully restored and newly created parks. The program will also include a daffodil map of the city so you can go on your own adventure.
