Planning the Perfect Destination Wedding

The wedding season certainly hasn't looked the same as years' past in many aspects. A lot of our couples' original plans have evolved since originally meeting them, due to shutdowns and changing venue guidelines. Sometimes plan B is even more magical than the original vision, especially in Emily and Pete's case.

Planning a destination wedding adds an additional layer of excitement to the already rewarding experience of planning a wedding.

Emily and Pete's original idea was to wed locally but when they mentioned Charleston, SC, as an option, we knew we could design an amazing vision. We decided on Magnolia Plantation & Gardens as the venue for their destination black-tie affair. Our events team traveled to Charleston only once prior to the festivities to familiarize ourselves with the venue and to meet with vendors. The rest of the planning took place remotely.

It’s All in the Details

Petaloso brought our vision of a garden ceremony to life, complete with a floral-lined aisle. Classic white floral runners of larkspur, lisinathus, garden roses and snapdragons created the perfect ceremony backdrop.

Our good friend and paperie Elana at Annabel Reese helped us design the most delightful custom invitation suite, escort cards, and all other signage for the day of, including a hand-drawn watercolor map for the (mostly) out of town guests.

Snyder Events was able to source us with linen in the perfect shade, and whimsical dinnerware.

A Classic Black-Tie Affair

Everything about this day was classic! The ceremony took place in a sailcloth tent with garlands of greens and modern chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.

We decided for the reception florals to vary between tall arrangements and low with accents of gold to carry our palette of shades of blue.

Furniture added a warmth to the space, as well as soft seating areas for our guests to relax between sets. The live band A-Town A-List helped bring the most amazing energy to the reception.

A Night to Remember

All the months of planning and hard work certainly paid off. It was such a joy to see the couple and their families enjoy every moment of the weekend. Kai and Tim at Kailee DiMeglio Photography and Yours Truly Media captured everything so beautifully. We loved putting this event together, and look forward to planning your future destination wedding.
