The Magic of December

“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
— Lewis Carroll

Well Hello December! While much of the natural world indeed prepares for the slumber of winter, there are those that come to life during these months of blanketed bliss.

For me, this stretch in the calendar awakens senses that only the cool, crisp air allows. It is a time when the warmth of home is exponentially felt deep in my bones. A time to be as quiet in the winter landscape as the ice coating the feral viburnum stands. Only then can the most nuanced activity be observed, of the determined chickadees and bachelor cardinal flocks.

Only during these months do we feel a closer kinship to our fellow man. Whether the spirit of the holidays speaks to our souls or the whisper from Jack Frost, these moments are what heartfelt memories are built upon. The fleurdetroit family wishes all our treasured friends, clients and shoppe patrons the best the winter season and holidays will bring.

Allow yourself to be caught in one of the many moments that only winter can bring—breathe deeply, and cherish exactly where you are. Your soul will recognize the magic and continue to guide you on your way with an awareness often ignored in our busy lives.

Happy Holidays! Merry Christmas! Happy Chanukah! Joyous Kwanzaa!
