If you've visited our shoppe, you see our love for ornithology. Birds have a heavy presence throughout our space, as Phillip and Joe are fond of collecting them.

Spring is in full swing in Michigan and we're here for it! With the outdoor temperatures warming up, our indoor decor is beginning to shift to a more bright and sunny aesthetic. In this month's journal, we've teamed up with local design influencer, Lauren Syrowik, who shares her favorite spring pieces in the shoppe to design the sweetest spring tablescape.

Well hello, friends! How quickly the calendar is opening into 2024; unfolding in new and surprising ways here at fleurdetroit. As an avid birder, when I think about spring, I naturally think bird migrations back to our beautiful northern state. The influx of these feathered beauties is comparable to the influx of objet and flora in our showrooms. Spring is the season of welcomed surprises.

Spring offers abundant and wonderful floral selections. Here in Michigan, bulbs begin to break soil at the end of March, offering a sign of the changing seasons. Our spring floral collection honors all those amazing spring bulbs like hyacinth, tulips, and daffodils—iconic symbols of spring. Arranged strategically, this collection offers a sunny color palette and fragrant designs to bring joy to any recipient. Spring is a time of renewal and rebirth, and our floral collection captures that essence perfectly.

With a wave of the wand and a wrinkle of her nose, mother nature set a high temperature record for us Michigan folk this late February, then plunged us into a brief freezing spell. And yet, the early breathy warmth brings all of us outdoors to relish the minor miracle of promises of early spring.

Fresh, delicate, impactful—blooming branches are true statement pieces. In Michigan, our favorite blooming branches, such as quince, forsythia and magnolia are available around late February to early March, depending on weather.

As we dodge Cupid’s arrows and layer up to keep warm, we continue to build out and remodel our floral and interiors showrooms. This February brings aesthetic changes to our fleurdetroit campus once again, as we continue to grow and evolve in design. We look forward to unveiling many new treasures in the new spaces.

The winter solstice ushered in a wave of warm weather. The upper 50-degree weather breached the 60-degree mark briefly, long enough to soak in the springlike vibes on one of my many garden walks that week. The cardinals and chickadees danced in the branches, as they too knew, this anomaly of temperature was a gift before the winter slumber sets in.
